Travel Latest – 6 April 2022 – Indonesia set to scrap PCR Test-on-Arrival, Paid Visa-on-Arrival for ASEAN Member Nations

Entry to the holiday island of Bali is set to become simpler and cheaper for travellers from ASEAN nations with authorities set to scrap PCR testing on arrival as well as recommencing the 30 day, free visa on arrival protocol in coming days.

The PCR test requirement will be replaced with standard temperature screening, meaning anyone recording a temperature under 37.5’C will be free to begin their holiday immediately.

Travellers will nevertheless need to fulfill a number of other requirements prior to arrival.

First, all new arrivals will need to be double vaccinated, with their most recent vaccination received 14 days prior to travel. Children under 18 are currently exempt from this requirement.

All travellers still need to show proof of a negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours of departure.

It will also be necessary to setup the Peduli Lindungi app on your phone in order to verify vaccination status and complete an electronic health statement (E-HAC) prior to arrival.

Proof of booked accomodation for the duration of your trip is also required and it is necessary to purchase covid travel insurance. This can normally be bought through your accommodation provider.

Finally, it will be necessary to download and complete an electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) prior to exiting the airport arrival hall. This can still be done manually but the online version is much simpler and provides you with a barcode that can be presented for scanning at the Customs checkpoint. The 10 ASEAN member countries that will soon have simplified arrival access to Bali are; Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

It is expected that this list will soon be expanded to include the 40-plus nations presently granted arrival status to Indonesia.
