Coronavirus Latest – 29 June 2021 – Delta Strain Detected in Lombok

June 28

Two people arriving at Lombok International Airport from Jakarta, have today been detained, after test results showed they were carrying the Coronavirus Delta variant.

It is believed to be the first time the highly contagious strain has been detected on the island.

All people travelling between islands in Indonesia must be tested within three days of travelling and must record a negative test result.

The pair arrived from Jakarta and provided rapid tests which showed negative results but random testing carried out by Lombok Airport officials revealed both were, in fact, carrying the Delta strain.

Hotels and guesthouses throughout Lombok are now being ordered to close to all guests arriving from outside the region unless all staff have been vaccinated.
