In a surprising new development, there is talk that the Indonesian Government is preparing to position Bali as a vaccination hub to attract international tourism.
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Sandiaga Uno, has held talks with Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin as well as with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and it appears likely that preparations for a pilot program are set to get underway.
While it is unclear when the program might be launched, Bali looks set to begin reopening it’s borders to vaccinated tourists from July.
Sandiaga Uno also said that while the pilot program would first be introduced in Bali, it was likely that the program could also be rolled out in other tourist destinations.
