Coronavirus Latest – 20 September 2021 – Bali Reopening Slated for October

The popular tourist island of Bali is said to be preparing to reopen to international tourism next month although for now the opening will be limited to a small number of countries whose populations are largely vaccinated.

At this stage the countries under consideration include Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand and Japan.

The United States, UK and all European countries are not presently being included, however, It is believed that Australian tourists will be permitted to enter the country once that nation hits it’s 70% vaccination target.

Bali had been preparing for a partial reopening in June this year but those plans were put on hold as the Delta variant caused case numbers to surge around the country. Under the original plan, the tourist areas of Nusa Dua, Sanur and Ubud were the only three areas that had been declared Green Zones and tourists would be free to travel within those zones.

Lombok’s popular Gili Islands were to be included as part of the Sanur Zone as part of the original plan

Although only 22% of the nation’s population have received two vaccinations, the population of Bali has has received priority treatment and a vaccination rate of 70% has already been achieved. Accommodation facilities have also received Health, Safety and Environment accreditation.

Although further details have not been confirmed it is believed that a number of of other area areas will also reopen around the same time as Bali.
