In the wake of Bali’s second failed attempt in less than twelve months to reopen to international tourism, the Indonesian Government is fine tuning a plan announced earlier this year to offer five year visa’s to online entrepreneurs and digital nomads in an attempt to support Bali’s faltering economy.
Bali’s plan to reopen to International tourists later this month, was thrown into disarray once again after the Delta variant caused case numbers on the neighbouring island of Java to spiral to unprecedented levels.
The highly contagious Delta strain is now also prevalant on the island of Bali, which recently reported having vaccinated 70% of its population.
Details of the “first of it’s kind” five year visa are yet to be finalised but it is believed that, as an added sweetener, no tax will apply to foreign-sourced income.
