The popular tourist island of Bali is planning to reopen its borders to international tourism from next month, however authorities say even fully vaccinated travellers could be expected to quarantine.
The Head of the Badung Tourism Agency, Cokorda Raka Darmawan said yesterday that he has asked the Central Government to reconsider its quarantine requirements for international tourists, citing boredom as a chief concern.
The area of Nusa Dua has currently earmarked five hotels to be used as quarantine facilities once international tourists begin to arrive.
The Indonesian government presently requires all international arrivals to undergo an eight day quarantine, however there is speculation that this could be reduced to five or even two days or as soon as a negative test result can be obtained.
97% of Balinese have already received at least one dose of vaccine and 75% of people have been double vaccinated.
The vaccination rollout is expected to be completed by early next month.
